As part of a day of police action, targeting railway stations two men from Milford Haven were found to be in possession of cannabis, and around £2,000, which was seized under Proceeds of Crime Act.

Police carried out the action across Carmarthenshire last week, disrupting criminal activity and targeting those who prey on the most vulnerable.

Officers along with the Roads Policing Unit, CID and British Transport Police joined forces for the day of action on Thursday, June 18.

As a result, three people were arrested, more than 10 people were stop searched, four people will be voluntarily interviewed, and eight were reported for traffic offences.

Temporary Inspector Mike Ross explained: “The aim of the day was to take a coordinated approach to targeting both known offenders, the locations crimes take place, and to disrupt illegal activity.

“With support from departments across the force, as well as British Transport Police, we were able to cover a significant area, and saw many positive outcomes.

“As well as targeting crime, our outreach van was out in the community so officers could talk to the people we serve, and listen to any concerns.”

As part of the operation, railway stations were targeted with plain clothed patrols, and officers travelled on trains to gather intelligence around people who use the rail network for criminal purposes.

This resulted in two men from Milford Haven being searched at Carmarthen train station. They were found to be in possession of cannabis, and around £2,000, which has been seized under Proceeds of Crime Act.

As an objective of the day was to target people who cause harm to the most vulnerable in the community, visits were carried out at the homes of known sex offenders.

This was done with support from the Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) and Managing Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders (MOSAVO) unit.

The purpose of the visits was to ensure no offences were being carried out and that any court conditions are being adhered to.

Outstanding suspects in crime investigations were also targeted, resulting in two arrests.

T/Insp Ross said: “This was a very positive day of action, with a number of successful outcomes.

“Not only did we make a number of arrests, and have people to interview on suspicion of possessing illegal substances, but we have gained intelligence which will assist with future operations and investigations.”
