Police have confirmed that one person died at a house fire in Meidrim, Carmarthenshire in the early hours of Friday, February 9.

“The damage to the property was extensive and it was unsafe to enter immediately,” said a police spokesperson.

“Sadly, we can now confirm one person died at the scene. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this tragic time.

“We would like to thank members of the community for the support they have offered throughout the incident.”

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Dyfed-Powys Police crime scene investigators are likely to be at the house for several more days to find out the cause of the fire. The road remains closed while investigations continue.
