Angle RNLI in Pembrokeshire has responded to three emergencies within a 24 hour period.

The first request to launch came just before 6 in the morning on a weekday during the first week of August when the crew was tasked to search for a vulnerable person in the Wards Pier area.

The lifeboat launched and was soon on scene where they commenced a search of the shore, before moving further offshore covering from Newton Notes jetty to Conduit Beach. Dale Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to assist. Following around an hour of searching, the crew were stood down when the casualty was located inland by police. The lifeboat was back alongside and readied for further service by 8am.

Later the same morning around 8.30, Angle RNLI crew was paged again. This time they were requested to assist two females cut off by the tide between Hakin Point and Conduit Beach. Owing to the close proximity to the lifeboat’s berth, the crew deployed the Y boat from alongside and were soon with the casualties.

Both females were taken onboard the Y boat and transferred the short distance to safety at Hakin Point where members of Dale Coastguard Rescue Team were waiting to receive them. With no further assistance required, the Y boat returned to the jetty and was recovered shortly after.

Only a few hours later, just after midnight the following morning, the crew was paged once again following a call for assistance from a 12m yacht that had lost all power four miles south west of St Ann’s Head.

The lifeboat launched and headed out to the yachts last known position. Once on scene around 25 minutes later, a tow was swiftly rigged. Following a tow lasting around 90 minutes, the crew arrived off Milford Docks where the yacht was transferred into an alongside tow to be taken into the marina.

With the yacht safely alongside in the marina, the crew was stood down where the lifeboat was back alongside and readied for further service by 3.30am - less than 24 hours after the previous morning’s ‘shout’.
