60 police officers have been recruited in Dyfed-Powys since September 2019, bringing the total number of officers up to 1,223.

The latest figures are part of the UK Government’s drive to get 20,000 more police officers on the street by 2023, and puts the Government on track to fulfil its manifesto commitment.

Across the 43 police forces, an additional 11,053 officers have been recruited, bringing the total number of police officers in England and Wales to 139,908 – where they are already having an impact in tackling crime and keeping communities safe.

Conservative Member of the Senedd for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Samuel Kurtz has welcomed the announcement.

“From working with our local police force, I know just how valuable 60 more police officers will be in helping to crack down on crime,” he remarked.

“Whether that be ending anti-social behaviour, preventing rural crime or clamping down on County Lines – we’re backing our police officers and making sure they have the powers they need to stamp out crime in our area.

“The 60 additional recruits mean there are now 1,223 police officers in Dyfed Powys; each and every one helping to keep our communities safe and secure.”
