August has been a busy month of political engagement for the Marine Energy Wales team.
Last week the team was pleased to welcome Conservative MP for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire and Chief Whip Simon Hart to Pembroke Dock for a round table discussion on all things marine energy.
Tom Hill, on behalf of CSDA members, raised the need to resolve spatial challenges, which if successful could pave the way for 20GW of potential in the Celtic Sea. It was an encouraging discussion, and the team was assured that the UK Government is aware and is working towards a solution.
Tom also emphasised to Simon the economic prospects a thriving marine energy industry could bring to Wales and the rest of the UK, highlighted the common issues already facing developers and supply chain, and emphasised the need for engagement and political support.
Marine Energy Wales' newest team member, Communications Coordinator Jess Hill, was also at the meeting, presenting Simon with a copy of Marine Energy Wales’ State of the Sector report.
